Get Bus Stop tickets and see William Inge’s revered play come to life at Classic Stage Company this spring. Obie Award winner Jack Cummings III directs this inspired new production, which features an all Asian American and Pacific Islander cast. Bus Stop has been a hit play since its 1955 debut, and now, 70 years later, the play continues to mesmerize with its grit, charm, and deep, aching soul. Bus Stop tickets will be available on New York Theatre Guide soon.
Experience Bus Stop off Broadway to see one of America’s most beloved plays from the country’s quintessential Midwestern writer. A Pulitzer Prize winner, Inge is also known for his plays Picnic; Come Back, Little Sheba; and, of course, Bus Stop, a resplendent play about a snowy night in Kansas. The first Broadway run received multiple Tony Award nominations, including ones for Best Play and for theatre legend Elaine Stritch.
In Bus Stop, a blizzard overtakes a small town, and a bus is forced to take shelter as its passengers unload into a diner, which becomes a temporary oasis for a strange community. Cowboys, waitresses, dreamers, and runaways all find a makeshift home, and warmth, amongst each other for a night that will forever transform their lives. Featuring memorable characters and a heart as big as the Kansas sky, Bus Stop endures as an American classic and gives voice to characters less frequently seen on stage.
Now, in a new co-production with National Asian American Theatre Company and Transport Group, Classic Stage produces the first all-Asian American and Pacific Islander professional production of Bus Stop. Jack Cummings III, a five-time Drama Desk Award nominee for Outstanding Director and two-time Obie Award winner, stages this thrilling new production, playing for a limited run. Tickets to Bus Stop on New York Theatre Guide will be available soon.
