About Liberation

  1. Six women—strangers—gather in a basement gymnasium at their local community center, determined to shake up their lives and the world around them. Fifty years later, one of their daughters tries to piece together what happened. From Tony Award® nominee Bess Wohl (Grand Horizons) and Roundabout’s inaugural Directing Fellow and Associate Artist Whitney White (Jaja’s African Hair Braiding), comes a provocative, revealing, and irreverent jolt of a play about what really goes on when women meet behind closed doors. This compelling narrative explores the transformative power of these meetings and the lasting impact they have across generations.
